  • Sewage Processor is up and running!

This posting is a record of the moment where the air pump was switched on and we had air bubbling through the water! Very Nice! It is now running continuously and this date is now officially in the maintenance logbook!

  • Sewage Processor Day 3, 4 and 5!

The work continues with the Sewage Processor installation and its connections!

    Day 3 – Tuesday 13th July

Started with the concrete mixing to bed down the processor unit but didn’t get much done before the cement mixer broke down!

    Day 4 – Thursday 15th July

With the repaired cement mixre, we finished off the concrete footings for the processor unit, and then filled up with gravel. We put in a black 110mm diameter pipe to act as the air vent as well as a high visibility warning to stop anyone accidentily driving over the tank!. We also discovered that the extension collar doesn’t fit the top of the processing unit!!

    Day 5 – Friday16th July

We strengthened the black pipe to make sure it cannot be accidentily pulled out and dumping loads of soil into our leach field. We then cut the trench from the sewage unit back up the garden (this sewage line is the kitchen and cloakroom or will be when the house is built!), put in tons of gravel as bedding, installed the manhole service chamber and the first 3metre pipe segment!trech for first sewage pipethe inspection chamber next to the processor

    What’s Next.. ..?!

  • Conder to the rescue

As we blogged earlier the extension tube would not fit the top of the sewage processor. I rung the manufacturers (Conder) who said they would get back to me soon. A short while later I had a call from the General Manager of Conder! We discussed the problem and I gave him the measurements of the collar on the tank. He asked if we would try a fix of cutting a few slots into the base of the extension tube to try and get it to bend enough to fit, but said if this didn’t work they would make a custom extension tube.

We cut 6 slots and tried to fit the tube – no luck. Tried with more and more cuts but to no avail. So I rung the GM back and he agreed that they will make a custom extension tube and send it to us A.S.A.P.

  • Extension Collar Doesn't Fit!

It’s a Stoppage! The Extension Collar for the Sewage Processor does not fit! The collar is designed to slide over the ring moulded into the top of the tank but it looks as if the two are the same size! The manufacturer may have used the wrong piece of “tube” when sticking with fiber glass and resin to the tank!
We are making contact with them and asking searching questions!
    We await for Answers!

  • Sewage Processor is now Bedded in!

The final load of concrete is now in early this morning and after a couple of hours for it to set enough, we loaded 10mm gravel in around the sides. Of course we remembered to fill the tank with water as we went along!! It is ready for the final Sand and Soil to go on top.

  • Concrete Production Resumes!

The new capacitor arrived (rather late in the afternoon !) and installed it in the cement mixer and it’s go go go! Or at least it will be tomorrow! Sharp!

  • Started and stopped concreting the tank.

Started mixing concrete and pouring round the base of the tank but we were stoppped by the mixer breaking down. Took it apart and found the motor start capacitor has blown up.The capacitor with the electrolite boiled out the side.

Ordered a replacement so hopefully will restart the concreting tomorrow.

  • BCO inspected the sewage processor in its hole.

Dave the BCO came and approved the sewage processor in situ.

  • Its Raining – Oh good …

After a month without daytime rain we can finally burn the pile of hedging pulled up on the 7th of June! In fact the rain stopped just long enough for us to have a lovely bonfire. It will also lay the dust for a day or two.

  • Leach Field Review

A quick review of our construction of the Leach Field. The video contains all 12 days of our work speeded up by over 300 times normal (one picture every 30 seconds). It only took 5 minutes!!

    Enjoy!
