Shingles or Shakes ?
We have been looking at the sample panels for the last few days. There is agrement that the Shakes look just a little too rustic… So it will be shingles on the roof with a mixture of shingles and T&G boards on the walls.

Samples of Western Red Cedar for roof and walls.
We can’t decide exactly which style of Cedar to use to clad the walls. So we bought a bundle each of Shingles & Shakes and a few planks of Tounge and Groove boards. These were made up into sample panels about 1m square.

Clearing old Trees
Started to clear out the top of the site. There are about 6 trees here which we will need to to remove. Most of them are old fruit trees which no longer produce a decent crop.
Time to use that bargain electric chain saw I bought many years ago (I knew it would be usefull someday)!
